Drizzle the cut sides with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place the squash cut side down on a baking sheet and roast for 30-40 minutes, until fork-tender.

While the squash is baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until thoroughly warmed.

Once the squash is cooked, use a fork to scrape the flesh into spaghetti-like strands. Serve topped with warm marinara sauce and garnish with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
