Slow Cooker Apple Pie Filling (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 3 pounds baking apples (Granny Smith or McIntosh)

→ Spices

02 - 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
03 - 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
04 - 1 pinch ground cloves
05 - 1 pinch sea salt

→ Binding & Flavoring

06 - 1 tablespoon tapioca starch
07 - 1/4 cup maple syrup
08 - 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
09 - 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

# Instructions:

01 - Peel, core, and quarter the apples. Cut each quarter into 4 equal slices. Place all apple slices into a 6-quart slow cooker.
02 - In a bowl, combine tapioca starch, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and sea salt. Add maple syrup and whisk until tapioca has completely dissolved. Incorporate vanilla extract and lemon juice.
03 - Pour the spice and maple syrup mixture over the apple slices in the slow cooker. Toss gently to ensure even distribution of spices throughout.
04 - Cover the slow cooker with its lid. Cook on low heat for 3-4 hours, or until apples have softened while still maintaining their shape.
05 - Transfer to serving bowls and enjoy with a scoop of ice cream if desired.
