Combine mayonnaise, French dressing, sweet pickle relish, minced white onion, white vinegar, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Mix thoroughly until well incorporated. Cover and refrigerate until assembly.

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Season the thin beef patties with salt and pepper. Cook each patty for approximately 2 minutes per side until properly seared and cooked through.

Lightly toast all bun sections (tops, middles, and bottoms) until golden brown.

Spread a generous amount of special sauce on all cut sides of the buns. On the bottom bun, layer chopped lettuce, American cheese, a beef patty, minced onions, and pickle slices. Place the middle bun section on top, then repeat the same layering process. Crown with the top bun section.
